OUT WEST ADVENTURE Bryce Canyon

Start out with another nice big Nick breakfast with delicious scrabbled eggs with mushrooms, peppers, cheese and onions.  and bacon on the side.  The sandwiches for lunch are packed and we're off. We park outside the park and take a shuttle into Bryce Park to the end of the line - Bryce Point.

The path along the rim afforded beautiful overviews of the hoodoos.

That's the under rim trail that we didn't take.

We took the shuttle back to Sunset Point where  we split up.  Paula, Jorge and Roddy chose to walk along the rim and meet back up with us at the visitor's center.
Betsy, Myra, Nick and Ginger started down the Navajo Loop trail which went down into the Canyon  via dozens of switch backs.

The bottom is an area called Wall Street.

Nick accidentally dropped an M&M from his GORP bag and this little chipmunk enjoyed the treat!

We continued along the bottom of the canyon to where the trail joined the Queen Garden Trail. Being mostly flat was a welcome treat.

As we started ascending, we were surrounded up close and personal with the hoodoos.

This one is the one the trail is named after.  It is supposed to look like Queen Victoria.  They have stopped naming the hoodoos because with erosion, it changes how they look and it starts taking more and more imagination to see why the old ones were named as they were.
We enjoyed our picnic lunch in the Queen's Garden.

We had been told to do the path starting at Sunset Point and ending at Sunrise Point.  It was still quite a hike out of the canyon but a bit more gradual incline than the numerous steep switchbacks down to Wall Street.  We were all glad we did it in the direction that we did.

After meeting back up with Paula, Jorge and Roddy, we took the shuttle to the car and drove to the furthest lookout point - Rainbow Point.  And made our way back stopping at several of the other lookout points.  I must say that I'm glad I wasn't driving!

Nick made us a great dinner of chicken, fresh vegetables,  and rice.  The beer sure was nice after a long day of hiking!
