Zermatt

 July 6 Wednesday

We have to leave Murren today. We all really enjoyed our time here. We get our bags packed. Christina and I stand on the balcony soaking up what we can in our memories for later. Christina reads me a quote from Wordsworth about beautiful searing  moments in our brains and what she wrote about one of her strong memories. A beautiful shared moment that gives life meaning.

The last thing we do is close the shutters of the house. Very literally closing a chapter in our travel memories.

We all continue our journey together down from Murren. Over to Lauterbrennen. On the train to Interlaken. Then the time comes that Nick and I have to get off to change to a different train and Christina stays on the train. A train doesn’t allow for slow goodbyes. A quick hug and that’s it.

Two more train transfers and we’re to Zermott.

These pictures desperately need editing but I’m doing this on my phone and having trouble. Maybe will go back later and edit the pictures and it may just be what it is.

We get to Zermatt and found out hotel which is on the main drag. Our room isn’t ready yet so leave our luggage and go out in search of lunch. OMG e thought Murren was expensive. Here you easily pay $30 for a burger and there really aren’t much cheaper options. We go to a pub and get soup and share some fries. Soft drink and a beer and it was almost $50.

At 4:00 everyday they have a goat parade with a here of goats going through the main drag. Since our hotel is on BBC the main drag, I was able to see it from the balcony, they were followed by 4 people playing alpenhorns and wearing traditional dress. Fun but not something I would pay to hear

I must admit that i was a bit grumpy about the whole place. Over priced tourist place was pretty much all I was seeing.

We did find a pizza place that wasn’t outrageous and had a View of the Matterhorn. After a beer and some food, my attitude was munch better.
