May 22 To Lake Tahoe

We have a nice breakfast with Ellen and  Bob in their beautiful backyard.  Ellen has given the backyard a lot of love, and hours through the years and it really is colorful and beautiful.  Oatmeal with fresh fruit and nut toppings.

We must have stopped for lunch somewhere but since I'm writing this several days after the fact, I really don't remember where

The drive to our place in Incline Village takes longer than expected.  Going along nicely.  Gradually see more and more snow along the roadside.  We go along I-80.  That's the same interstate that goes by Pella.  Get on that and drive about 4 days and you'll be in Pella.

We're almost there - Waze says it's 3.7 miles to our destination.  Complete stand still.  Wait for about 10 minutes without moving.  An occasional car comes from the other direction.  One signals to turn around so we do.  MISTAKE!  We figure there must be another way through.  There isn't.  We turn back around and now are further back in the back-up.  It finally does start moving and we get to the place about an 1 1/2 after we expected.  BUT  Valerie and Richard are there to greet us.  They have already gone shopping for dinner tonight.  All is suddenly fine and beautiful.  The place is comfortable with big open space on the main floor and a balcony looking out to mountains.  (can't see the lake but that's okay).  Downstairs are 3 bedrooms.  2 of them opening onto another deck with a hot tub, which we enjoy before bed.

We have a good steak dinner with a big salad and lots of good conversation.  Oh, and that really good beer that I like so much.  Brother Thelonious.  We picked up several of them and the Russian stout - Rasputin.

Tomorrow we will drive around the lake.
