On to Prague
June 26 Sunday
Again we're leaving too soon. If we had another day, we would have explored on the bikes that were available to us and maybe gone upto the North Sea to the beach up there. Gotta leave something for next time.
Instead, we got up early (6am) and called a taxi to take us to the train station. We need to get to Brussels to catch the 8:30 train to Paris. We will then fly from Paris to Prague as the schedules and prices worked better than out ofBrussels. We have about 5 hours in Paris before our flight. We find some lockers where we can leave our suitcases and head out.
We decide to walk down the Champs Elysees, the Arch de Triumph and have a leisurely lunch. The windows of the designer stores are beautiful, It does seem that there are more tourists and lookers than serious buyers. There is a Stranger Things store. That one even has a line outside of people waiting to go innside.
The sun is shining. The sky is blue. Great day for pictures of the arch.
We chose a cafeteria type place for lunch which is much cheaper than the sidewalk places. It was good to get a real helping of vegtables.
Time to head back. Retrieve our suitcases and head to the Orlee airport. I packed my bag with the intention of checking it. Nick packed his with the intention of it being a carry on. For some reason they would check Nick's bag but not mine and was told to take it to the gate with me. That meant I had to go through security with it. y liquids weren't in a nice plastic bag. I had to give up my sunblock. Then my back pack got tagged for a hand check because of the small binoculars I had. I guess most people don't travel with those.
There is some confussion about what gate the plane is leaving from and we traipse around the airport getting in our steps for the day. Finally are allowed to board but that involves going down stairs, climbing the steps to the airplane, all lugging my suitcase thatI out heavy things in since I was going to check it. We're in thelast row of seats but at least we're on.
In Prague, a taxi van arranges to take 3 couples together. That works. He is rather frenetic and drives that way as well. Hold on. We are the last of the three to be dropped off. The directions toget intothe Airbnb are complicated with a series of 4 pictures to go through a series of locked doors to get to our apartment. We're inand it is nice and spacious.
We've been texting back and forth with Christina. Her train is supposed to get in the same ti e as our plane. But the train splits and she is not in the right car and gets shuttled off to who knows where. Luckily, she is able to rectify the situation fairly easily and gets in only about an hour later. The trainstation is very close to where we are and she is able to walk tothe Airbnb. Happy reunion!
Around the corner is a highly rated restaurant with their ownbrewery. A winner. Nickand I share a meal of goose and red cabbage. It was cooked well with nice crispy skin.

You make it sound like no big deal; but I know what schlepping a heavy suitcase is like! Glad it all ended so well! Again - good to have stories!!
